NTB gets VP after 13 years

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) board has got its vice president in 13 years.

A meeting of the Board's Executive Committee Wednesday appointed its member Chandra Prasad Rijal as the VP of the national tourism organisation of the country.

He has served as the president of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN).

The post had remained vacant after Prakash Shrestha completed his term in 2008.

NTB is a public-private-partnership project that works as an agency for the promotion of Nepali tourism in domestic and international markets.

The board had appointed Ngawa Ngima Sherpa and Krishna Kumar Shah were appointed to the board last month. It has a 13-member executive committee led by the tourism secretary while the chief executive officer of the board serves as its member secretary.

Five members are nominated by the government from tourism, natural and cultural heritage sectosr, four members are from various ministries and departments.

The VP is selected from among the board members.
