Businessman
Saurya SJB Rana passed away on Sunday. He was 64.
He was admitted
to Mediciti Hospital on Wednesday following the diagnosis of heart problem
during a health checkup.
He had undergone
a heart surgery but additional problems were observed afterwards. He was
receiving treatment in ventilator.
Late Rana was
the immediate past president of Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(NICCI). Issuing a statement on Sunday, NICCI expressed condolence and said
that the organisation and business sector had experienced an unrecoverable
loss.
He served as the
president of the organisation for two terms from 2015 September to 2019
December.
A graduate of
Business Administration from the UK, Rana had served as the chairman of Nepal
Automobile Dealers’ Association and president and director of many
organisations like Tara Management, Sipradi Compnaies, Amravati Companies,
Bhote Koshi Power Company, Tara Energy and Surya Nepal.
He had also
contributed in the review of various bilateral issues and agreements between
Nepal and India.
