‘Cambodian investors interested in investing in Nepal’

Kathmandu, Nov. 30

President of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) Oknha Lim Heng said on Friday that the Cambodian businessmen were interested to invest in Nepal.

“The bilateral aviation agreement inked between Nepal and Cambodia on Thursday will be a milestone in strengthening bilateral trade and investment and developing tourism,” he said in a meeting with the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and industry (FNCCI).

A strong relation between the governments of the two countries will contribute in better private sector relations as well, he said.

He also inquired about the investment policies and legal provisions of Nepal.

FNCCI President Bhawani Rana urged the Cambodian investors to invest in Nepal saying that as the country had a stable government and its aim was the economic prosperity, Nepal had conducive investment environment.

“There are many potential investment areas in Nepal. However, sectors like agriculture, tourism and hydroelectricity have greater potential. The government has reformed the investment policies for these sectors,” she said.

She also said that the foreign investors can have 100 per cent equity in the companies they establish in Nepal.

Both the chambers have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation between them.

The business delegation is in Nepal to participate in the Asia-Pacific Summit 2018.
