21: Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sunder Shakya has said that
he would support community colleges in achieving educational excellence.
"There is a
need to attract students to the community schools and colleges. So the KMC will
collaborate with such educational institutions and support to increase their
quality," he said while speaking at the 24th Anniversary of
Janamaitri Multiple Campus (JMC) at Kuleshwor Height on Friday.
According to him,
the KMC is sensitive to the community schools and colleges and is ready to work
together in the programmes to improve their quality.
He also said
that the metropolis had plans to develop modern gardens in community schools.
Mayor Shakya
stressed on quality, modern and practical education.
"Students
should be salable as the products produced in a factory. Your education can be
termed as successful when market absorbs your products when they complete their
degrees," he said.
He appreciated JMC
for the quality education at reasonable cost.
Chief of JMC
Bhola Nath Ojha said that the campus exhibited resilience and continued
teaching-learning activities even though all of its buildings were damaged in
the 2015 earthquake.
"With the
unconditional support from the students, teachers, management committee and
other stakeholders, JMC has completed the construction of about 60 class
rooms," he said.
