Japanese FM Kono to visit Nepal in January


Kathmandu, Dec. 28: Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Taro Kono is coming to Nepal for an official visit from 9 to 10 January, 2019.
He is visiting Nepal at the invitation of Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.
Kono will hold delegation-level bilateral talks with Gyawali on 9 January. The meeting will be followed by joint press briefing.
He is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. FM Gyawali will host a dinner in honour of Kano.
FM Gyawali had paid an official visit to Japan in November at the invitation of Kono where Japan has expressed its readiness to hire Nepali skilled and semi-skilled workers, establish and run human resource training and skill development institutions and programmes, and support in agriculture, infrastructure development, technology transfer, poverty alleviation, climate change and disaster risk mitigation.
Japan has recently included Nepal as the source country to hire workers.
There have been frequent exchanges at the high level between the two countries.
Spokesperson of the Ministry Bharat Raj Poudyal said that State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan visited Nepal in 2015 and 2016, and Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba visited Nepal in 2012.
