Dr. Basnet reelected chairperson of YANDA

Kathmandu, Aug. 17

The Yoga and Naturopathy Doctors' Association Nepal (YANDA) has elected a new executive committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Janak Bahadur Basnet at its 18th Annual General Meeting and ninth general convention held in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Dr. Basnet, a senior yoga and naturopathic physician in Nepal, has been re-elected as chairperson of the association.

The newly elected executive committee includes Dr. Dinesh Rai as vice-chairperson, Dr. Hemraj Koirala as general secretary and Dr. Sanju Khaiju as treasurer. Dr. Rabin Lal Shrestha, Dr. Suman Chaulagain and Dr. Abhishram Guragain have been elected as executive committee members.

The YANDA stated in a statement on Sunday that the convention discussed issues including protecting the professional rights and interests of yoga and naturopathic physicians, promoting yoga and naturopathic medicines, enhancing physicians' professional capacity, expanding membership, and strengthening the association institutionally and financially.

The newly elected executive committee has pledged to work effectively to promote yoga and naturopathic medicines in Nepal while safeguarding the professional rights and occupational security of physicians working in the field.
