South Korean Ambassador to Nepal Park
Tae-young paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal on
Wednesday.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Singha Durbar, Minister Khanal stressed the need to
enhance connectivity between Nepal and South Korea. He said that trade, health
and education should be prioritised in bilateral relations between the two
countries.
“We need to identify various sectors for
investment. At present, we are focused on the energy and manufacturing sectors.
We must now place greater emphasis on other sectors as well,” he said.
According to his secretariat, FM Khanal
also underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration between research
institutions in the field of education. He further described South Korea’s
Employment Permit System (EPS) as a model programme in bilateral relations
between Nepal and South Korea.
He noted that the EPS had also made a
positive contribution to strengthening people-to-people ties between the two
countries.
Minister Khanal commended Ambassador Park
for his service in Nepal as the envoy prepares to return home after completing
his three-year tenure.
Ambassador Park said that he would never
forget Nepal wherever he went and also praised the country's rich cultural
diversity.
