Kathmandu, Aug. 14
The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu organised a flag hoisting ceremony at its Chancery on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan.
Ambassador of
Pakistan Mohammad Aamir Khan unfurled the national flag amidst a programme
attended by the members of Pakistani community, Nepali citizens and Embassy
officials with their families.
Speaking at the
ceremony Ambassador Khan underscored that Pakistan’s diplomatic role in
lowering the tensions in West Asia made positive impact globally. The
Ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, progress while noting
that the nation will stand together in the face of any challenge.
Khan also
expressed firm readiness in building further strong diplomatic and economic
bilateral relations between Pakistan and Nepal, based on centuries old
civilized links, historic relations and shared values.
In his message, Asif
Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, said that 14 August is a day when they
remember the sacrifices that made Pakistan possible. "We pay tribute to
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the leaders and workers of the Pakistan
Movement. Independence is not only a historic achievement but also a responsibility,"
he said while adding that Pakistan’s role in the efforts to facilitate dialogue
in the region is an important example of this responsibility.
According to him,
Pakistan has effectively used its channels of communication, its geographical
location and diplomatic capital to encourage dialogue and de-escalation at a
time when wider conflict could have serious consequences for the region and the
world.
Likewise, in his
message, Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the
journey of national development and prosperity is thriving ahead towards a
brighter future, despite the challenges along the way. He also said that Makkah
Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye is a
testament of Pakistan’s effective role in the region and its emerging strategic
strength.
Similarly, Deputy
Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, in his message said since
independence, Pakistan has made remarkable strides across diverse fields,
guided by the enduring principles of unity, faith and discipline.
