Amadeus becomes GDS of Himalaya Airlines

Kathmandu, July 26: The Himalaya Airlines has chosen Amadeus as its first global distribution system (GDS) partner to distribute its fares, schedules and availability through the world's widest network of travel agents.
The agreement between the two companies enabled the Amadeus-connected travel agencies worldwide with access to the airline's full range of fares, seats and schedules under the same conditions as those offered through all other sales channels.
Following the agreement, Himalaya joins the ranks of over 440 other airlines that are bookable via Amadeus system, read a press statement issued by the company.
Established in August 2014 and came into operation from May 2016, the Himalaya Airlines is a Nepal-China joint venture company and an international scheduled full-service carrier.
The company started its scheduled flight operation from flying directly to Doha, Qatar and is planning to schedule its regular flights to Delhi, Colombo, Lhasa, Chengdu, Beijing, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Dammam in near future.
Executive vice president, Airline Commercial of Amadeus Asia Pacific said that the company was thrilled to partner with one of the region's newest airlines, supporting their growth and brining their new service offering to travellers around the world. "We are committed to continually improve the content we offer to our travel agency network, and this agreement is proof of that."
Amadeus is a provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel industry which has airlines, hotels, rail and ferry operators, travel agencies and websites and corporations and travel management companies as its customer.
Vice president of Himalaya Airlines Vijay Shrestha said, "We have an excellent product to offer at competitive prices, and are gearing up for growth with plans to expand our fleet and network.

He claimed that Amadeus was the best choice for the company as the first global distribution partner.
