Dr. Karki accredited to Guatemala

Kathmandu, July 17: Ambassador of Nepal to the United States of America Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki, who is also accredited to Guatemala, presented his letters of credence to President of Guatemala Jimmy Morales Cabrera last week.
Dr. Karki is the first Nepali ambassador to Guatemala.
After receiving the letter of credence, President Cabrera felicitated Dr. Karki for being appointed the ambassador to Guatemala, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in a press statement on Sunday.
Dr. Karki conveyed the best wishes and greetings from President Bidya Devi Bhandari as well as from Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli to President Cabrera.
President Cabrera extended his best wishes for the personal health and happiness of President Bhandari as well as for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of Nepali people.
“President Cabrera also expressed his desire to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries. On the occasion, Dr. Karki also met Foreign Minister of Guatemala Carlos Raul Morales and conveyed the messages from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa,” read the statement.
 Dr. Karki informed the Guatemala government that Nepal was considering opening an Honorary Consular in Guatemala.
Earlier, He met Andrea Cardona, first women from Central America and Guatemala to climb Mt. Everest.

Cardona expressed her desire to help the people suffering from earthquake in Nepal, read the statement.
