HBL and SEJON to establish media fellowship

Kathmandu, July 24: Himalayan Bank Limited (HBL) and Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON) Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish media fellowship for economic journalists.
HBL chief executive officer Ashok SJB Rana and SEJON president Gokarna Awasthi signed the MoU amidst a programme.
The fellowship, named as HBL-SEJON media fellowship, will be given to journalists each from four media sectors – print, television, radio and online – to write investigative news stories.
The fellowship will be awarded annually and will carry a purse of Rs. 50,000 for each sector.
"HBL will provide Rs. 200,000 for fellowship and Rs. 30,000 to manage the operation costs," informed a press release issued by SEJON.
To operate the fellowship, a jury will be formed in the coordination of SEJON president, and it will have representative each from SEJON and HBL.

SEJON will call applications from journalists and the jury will award the fellowships to the best proposal of the news story.
