According to the Ministry, the
agreement was signed with the households of the 11 districts that were severely
hit by the devastating earthquakes in April and May last year.
The survey conducted by the
Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) recently had concluded that there were
533,058 households eligible to receive the house reconstruction grant of Rs.
200,000.
The number recommended by the
survey is less by 184,000 than the number estimated earlier.
Thus it has left tens of
thousands families discontent, and they have filed their complaints demanding
that they should also be provided with the reconstruction grant.
The government has received
approximately 92,980 complaints till Tuesday.
About 16,478 complaints were
registered in Dolakha followed by 15,005 in Gorakha, 13,000 in Sindhuli, 12,775
in Ramechhap and 8,986 in Nuwakot.
Meanwhile, the National Reconstruction
Authority (NRA) has deposited the first installment of the grant to the bank
account of 23,648 households.
It has disbursed the money to
the households of Ramechhap, Gorakha, Dolakha, Okhaldhunga, Sindhupalchowk,
Dhading and Rasuwa while the quake-victims of Kaverpalanchowk, Sindhuli,
Nuwakot and Makwanpur are yet to receive the grant money.
Similarly, survey is yet to be
done in districts in the Kathmandu
Valley and other 17 quake
affected districts.
The government has been
constructing 82 community shelters in various quake affected districts. The
construction work of those shelters is being carried by the Central Programme
Implementation Unit at the MoFALD and Nepalese Army.
Likewise, the reconstruction
body has decided to distribute Rs. 50,000 as house repair grant to the families
whose house is partially damaged.
