Australia has said
that it is ready to provide all possible assistance
needed by Nepal in the difficult circumstances it is facing.
In a telephone talk with Foreign Minister
Shisir Khanal on Friday afternoon, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong
pledged for the support. During the conversation, Minister Wong expressed, on
behalf of the Australian Government, her deep sorrow over the loss of life
caused by the disaster.
"The conversation took place as
search, rescue and relief operations continued in areas affected by the
devastating floods that caused significant loss of life and property in Rasuwa,
Nuwakot and other areas on Wednesday," FM Khanal's Secretariat informed in
a statement.
Foreign Minister Khanal, expressed his
gratitude to the Australian Government and the people of Australia for their
solidarity and support. He particularly thanked Australia for the goodwill and
assistance it had demonstrated at this critical time.
He informed Minister Wong that the government
was mobilising all available resources to carry out search, rescue and relief
operations for citizens affected by the disaster.
