Kathmandu, Sept. 15
In its latest social initiative, Nabil Bank has launched a short movie on a child with autism to create awareness among the masses.
The film is about an emotional journey of
raising a child with autism, which sheds light on the quiet struggles and deep
love within neurodiverse families to build empathy and awareness. The story is
told from the father's perspective.
The child with autism hides from the
relatives and shies away from the crown, while the relatives keep on suggesting
how to tame him, such as keeping him away from the cell phone. This
overwhelming pressure of unsolicited advice from the kins and friends leaves
the father feeling exhausted, voiceless, and isolated in his grief.
"He feels the world differently. He
can't express the feeling but he loves us," says the father. The film has
demonstrated the power of touch among the members of the family.
As the journey unfolds, the father
undergoes a shift in perspective. Initially, he desires his kid to be like
other children but now, he wishes to make the world good for him.
Expression transitions from words to
subtle, meaningful gestures - a silent language built on touch, presence, and
non-verbal connection. Meanwhile, the father conceals his pain to remain a
pillar of strength for his son, transcending societal expectations. The short
film ends with 'Happy Father's Day'.
Through the movie, Nabil Bank’s sends a
reminder that children with autism do not need fixing, but require acceptance,
patience, and compassion.
